Certified Life Coach
It is not always necessary or required to have psychotherapy. Coaching, both for individuals and couples, can be very helpful without relying on therapeutic modalities. Coaching does not involve experiential therapy. It is not used for trauma work. It does, however, include some of the principles and practices of cognitive behavioral therapy, as well as Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). Life coaching can be defined as a practice that involves assisting individuals in identifying and achieving their goals, dreams, and aspirations by increasing their self-awareness and developing their hidden and manifest talents and potential.
Life coaching provides options for clients beyond a therapeutic process. Coaching is about enabling a deeper understanding of self– a deeper understanding that reveals blind spots, better navigates challenges, and builds on strengths. (ExpertRating-Life Coach Certification). There are times in one’s life when an objective viewpoint can open up new ways to look at a problem that might be less complicated than one can see. These are blind spots that we can often see in others, but not in ourselves. Objectivity can be helpful to clients who cannot see solutions that might be seen by someone else. Transactional coaching is also a promising modality for corporate leadership and conflict resolution. It often does not require the amount of time that therapy does. Results can be achieved in less time as the issues are not as deep, stemming from childhood wounds and unresolved conflicts. It provides insight, expertise, guidance and challenging questions. It is problem-focused and is committed to action.
While in coaching, it is determined that if the client requires more than coaching can provide, therapy will then be recommended. Coaching has good questions to prompt your answers, rather than good answers to your questions.
