Dance in the Rain

7 April, 2020 By Joan E. Childs 1 Comment

I am a thrice lung cancer survivor, but more than that, I am a Phoenix.

I have risen from the ashes to be more than I was.

I live one day at a time.  I enjoy one moment at a time.

I accept hardships in the pathway to peace, take the world as it is, not as I would have it.

I trust that I can make things right, if everyday I choose not to surrender, but to fight,

That I may be reasonably happy in this life, when I choose not to wait for the storm to pass,

But learn how to dance in the rain.

“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take,
But by the moments that take our breath away. ”
– Author not verified

In these challenging times I have applied the same philosophy to living in the time of Coronavirus.  Make every moment count.  Cherish all you have and don’t waste time mourning over what you don’t. Take deep breaths, meditate, pray and relax.  We will get through this.

Disney will retrieve its magic — Paris it’s romance and we will once again dance with our lovers, plan our holidays with families and laugh with our children and friends.

Most important is to learn the art of compassion, patience and faith. The Universe and Mother Nature is telling us to examine our lives and make the changes to be the best we can be.  This is a time for self-examination, self-exploration, self-reflection and owning our deficits.

It is a time to say “I’m sorry” to those we have hurt either consciously or unconsciously.  It is time to take action and modify our behaviors that keep interrupting the quality of our lives and the lives of our loved ones.  It is a time for forgiveness and a time to have the courage of our convictions.  Love is paramount.  It is healing and essential for us to survive. Extend your emotional muscles to both give and receive.

It is up to us to show the world that we can create our own reality. Let’s say what we mean and mean what we say.  It’s a short trip and none of us are getting off the planet alive!

“There is a crack in everything.  That’s how the light gets in.” Leonard Cohen.

“Adversity introduces a man to himself.”  Albert Einstein
