The Beginning of A New Era:
Certified Coaching for Individuals Couples and Businesses
It is with pleasure, pride, and humility that I will be embarking on a new era beginning on April 1, 2025. I have retired from my clinical social work license and will be providing coaching to individuals, couples, associations, and corporations. Having been a psychotherapist for nearly 50 years lends a host of credentials and skills. I want to be able to morph my work into coaching clients who are not necessarily in need of therapy but can be helped by the practical application of working with a coach.
A certified coach does not require a license, only a certification that I have earned since 2021. The value of such permits me to work not only with individuals and couples, but to extend my coaching career to executive life, also known as a leadership life coach, with business leaders and corporations to support conflict resolution. Therefore, I can be a change agent for issues that develop within the corporate world that need professional assistance to effectuate positive change within the system. My nearly 50 years as a psychotherapist contributes to this metamorphosis seamlessly.
The Distinction Between Life Coach Vs. Therapist
A mental health therapist is a healthcare professional who provides psychotherapy services. Clients may work with a therapist on a long-term basis. They meet with their therapists regularly, working to resolve their mental health issues and overcome related challenges that may have had their origin unknowingly since childhood. These wounds and traumas from early childhood have a way of manifesting into adulthood and affect our choices in relationships, careers, family issues, and more.
Too often they can interfere with the quality of our lives. Over the many years I have been in practice, I was certified in many modalities that served as ways to effectuate positive change in behaviors and perceptive modes that were counter-productive in their lives.
A life coach is not a healthcare professional, although having worked with a background in psychology as a psychotherapist for so many years, these skills can be adapted to life, relationship, and leadership coaching. It’s not unlike a football player morphing into a coach or sports anchor.
We are NOT defined by what we do; but who we are.
Madonna is illustrative to this transformation as she has reinvented herself many times over, as have many celebrities and political leaders. I am simply choosing to extend my knowledge, experiences and expertise to another dimension that can help individuals, couples and corporations.
The purpose of life, relationship and executive coaching is to empower clients and corporations to identify their personal and professional life goals and manifest them into reality.
Getting Down to Business
The coaching sessions can be in person or virtually. The fee for individual and couples coaching is $250.00 per hour. The sessions for executive coaching are best done in the corporate environment, but they can also be done virtually. The fee is determined at the first interview to learn the needs of the management. In each discipline, a coaching agreement/contract is given to the client at the time of the first meeting.
Coaching is a practical and pragmatic way to resolve issues that do not require psychotherapy as we understand the definition of a mental health professional. Coaching is a perfect conversion from professional counseling and the deeper work provided by a mental health provider such as a clinical social worker/psychotherapist and psychologist.
