MY DAUGHTER’S SUICIDE: A Brief excerpt from my book along with some meanderings

If you have been following some of my excepts from my book, WHY DID SHE JUMP?, I will be continuing to enlighten you on my journey from diagnosis to her untimely and unnecessary suicide.  The purpose of these postings is to help other parents who struggled with the same nightmare I experienced and how I was able to come to terms with the loss of my daughter, by suicide. Her real executioner was mental illness, and our broken healthcare system. By helping others, I help myself!

The following excerpt is an example of how bipolar 1 invades the brain with delusional beliefs.  No amount of persuasion or contradiction to reality effects any change,

Pam’s illness had deteriorated, sending her into depths f despair, which resulted in irrational thoughts and behaviors.  She fervently believed that everyone who loved and cared for her was really an agent of the Devil. In her delusional state, Pam believed that the Devil was her perpetrator, whose mission was to seize her soul.  She claimed that she envisioned her husband morphed into a vampire. She visualized demons around me, which frightened her enough that she could no longer live with me, so she fled to her sisters’ home.

In her lucid moments, Pam would cry and apologize for the hallucinations she could not control.  Her younger sisters had no idea how to care for her.

The nightmare continued and I felt helpless to the sub-standard mental health system that seemed useless, always finding loopholes to decline the help she desperately needed.
