I Hate the I Man Love
The following is the first in a series of excerpts from the new book by Joan E. Childs, I Hate the Man I Love: A Conscious Relationship Is Your Key to Success.
Commitment is at the root of many issues we see couples facing today. When it’s lacking for any reason, it illuminates the difficulties and frustrations women experience in their relationships with men, which is exemplified by the same conflicts repeating all the time. Understand how oppositional feelings can co-exist simultaneously; not just with couples, but with children, parents, friends, co-workers and more. Love and hate are part of the human experience.
What do I mean by this? We can love our partners, but often we can find ourselves finding fault, becoming critical, angry, disillusioned and even bitter with them due to a lack of commitment in their willingness to understand our needs and lack of presence in communication. Effective communication must be learned. We only know what we know and too often our role models were not good communicators and unable to model conflict resolution. We repeat the patterns we learned in our families of origin. We are hard-wired for connection so when this happens we find ourselves in disconnect with our partners and that’s when crisis occurs.
I Hate the Man I Love: A Conscious Relationship Is Your Key to Success is now available for purchase on Amazon Kindle and paperback on October 11, 2020.
