I Hate the I Man Love

The following is from a series of excerpts from the new book by Joan E. Childs, I Hate the Man I Love: A Conscious Relationship Is Your Key to Success.

Chapter 3
The Power of the Penis, the Patriarchy, Politics and the Pocketbook

I have met countless women in my practice who are not unlike cocaine addicts in their effort to find more powerful men with each new conquest, willing to pay whatever price they have to in order to land their man. As far as I can see, the cost always outweighs the gain. Men who are attracted to this archetypical female, invariably will find younger and prettier choices before too long. For many of these women, the high from conquering a man of power is worth the pain.

How does this begin?

The answers are in the book! Women seek out men of power to gain a sense of worth as a compensation for feeling powerless due to unresolved childhood wounds—many are looking for love in all the wrong places due to family of origin traumas. Many use their beauty and sexuality the same as men use their power and pocketbook as a means of conquest.

Chapter 3 is inclusive of true stories about women who lost themselves along with their dignity and values in exchange for the power, the penis and the pocketbook. They are not on the front cover of Enquire, Globe or Star Magazine. They are beautiful, intelligent, successful women starving for the glory and power of their conquests. You know them. Some are your relatives, friends and colleagues. You may even find yourself among them.

Learn what fosters their motives. Many have scarcity issues, feelings of impoverishment carried forth from their childhood. Some have abandonment and neglect issues–others insecure attachments– all from their past that had never been resolved. We reap what we sow. This chapter gives insight into the dark places of their lives.
